Honda Wheel Stand iPad App

We started out by re-envisioning the ubiquitous window sticker. Then we added a slew of bells and whistles.

Objective

Take advantage of the iPad to evolve how product information is presented at auto shows.

Approach

We designed and built a custom iPad app that empowers users to access a wealth of product information about the vehicle they are standing next to, customize the vehicle and see the price of the vehicle they just configured, and get in touch with a Honda dealer in their neighborhood. The app also elicits feedback from users on the Honda auto show experience. On the brand side, the app is built to pull in data from existing sources ensuring display of the latest content. The app is universally deployed to all models on the show floor and uses a secure interface, with each iteration set to focus content on the product it is supporting. On the backend, valuable insight on use and engagement can be gleaned through the tracking data.

Results

The app debuted in September 2011 and has exceeded the client’s expectations. It produced a near-constant stream of users interacting with the content while looking at the car. In fact, for many people, much more time was spent interacting with the content than sitting in the car. Looks like interactive wheel stands are here to stay.
